Handyman Pricing in Boulder County
Hiring a handyman shouldn’t feel complicated or uncertain.
Here’s exactly how I charge and why.
Honest Hourly Handyman Rates — No Flat-Rate Overcharging
If you’re looking for a dependable handyman in Longmont, Boulder, or nearby areas, you probably want to know one thing first:
“How much is this actually going to cost me?”
Here’s exactly how my pricing works — simple, transparent, and fair.
My Hourly Handyman Rate
I charge $75 per hour with a one hour minimum - billed in half-hour increments after that.
I don't use inflated flat-rate pricing - you pay only for the time actually worked.
This is often the most cost-effective option for home repairs, because you’re not paying for guesswork, just real labor.
Why I Don’t Use Flat-Rate Pricing
Many handyman services and larger companies offer fixed quotes. While that sounds convenient, it usually works like this:
Because no one can see inside your walls or predict every complication, they must price for the worst-case scenario so even if your repair ends up being simple, you still pay the higher price.
My approach is different:
Instead of protecting myself with inflated estimates, I charge honestly for the time your project actually takes. In most homes, repairs go smoother than worst-case assumptions, and my clients benefit from that.
Service Area and Travel
I provide handyman services in:
Nearby surrounding communities like Berthoud and Firestone
I charge my standard hourly rate for the time it takes me to get to the worksite.
Materials
Materials are billed at cost (no markup surprises).
I’ll always confirm before purchasing anything significant.
You may provide materials if you prefer.
Hazard Pay
If I am brought into any environment that is considered hazardous from a health standpoint (mold, feces, urine, etc.) there will be an additional fee starting at $200.
Why Homeowners Prefer Hourly Handyman Pricing
Flat-rate services are designed to protect the contractor. Hourly service protects the homeowner.
With Handyman Philip, you’re not paying for padded estimates, administrative overhead, or corporate pricing structures — just careful, efficient work.
My goal is simple:
Show up on time
Work efficiently
Charge fairly
Respect your home
If that sounds like what you’re looking for, I'd be happy to help.
Handyman Pricing FAQ
Do you give free estimates?
I don’t provide fixed quotes because repairs can change once we begin. Every job is different, and there's no way to accurately predict what a job will entail from the start. Other companies provide quotes that include padding to cover unknowns. Charging hourly means that you don't pay extra for what-ifs that don't happen.
What if the repair takes less time than expected?
You win! You only pay for the time actually worked. There’s no minimum beyond the first hour, and billing switches to half-hour increments after that.
Is hourly cheaper than flat-rate handyman services?
For most small and medium repairs, yes. Flat-rate pricing has to include worst-case assumptions. Hourly billing means you pay for the real situation in your home, not a theoretical one.
Do you mark up materials?
No, materials are billed at cost, and I’ll always communicate before purchasing anything significant.
