Lighting Installation and Repair Services in Boulder County, Colorado
Brighten Your Home with Expert Lighting Solutions
If you want lighting installed or updated in your home, I can help.
I'm Philip, owner of Handyman Philip. I'm fully insured and handle every job personally. Most lighting fixture replacements don't require a licensed electrician - they just require someone who works carefully, checks the existing wiring before touching anything, and installs fixtures level, secure, and clean. That's exactly how I work.
Lighting and electrical are listed separately because they draw different types of requests. Lighting jobs are almost always fixture swaps, additions, or upgrades - not panel work or new circuits. If you're not sure which category your job falls into, just ask.

Safety & Scope — What I Do and Don’t Do
Lighting work involves electrical connections, so it’s important to be clear about scope.
I do handle:
Fixture replacement on existing wiring
Like-for-like lighting upgrades
Basic lighting troubleshooting
Proper mounting and secure installation
I do not handle:
New circuit installation
Major electrical rewiring
Panel upgrades
Commercial lighting systems
If I discover an issue that requires a licensed electrician or permit, I’ll explain it clearly and help you determine the right next step.
Why Choose Handyman Philip for Lighting Projects?
A lighting upgrade should make your home look better - not leave you with a crooked fixture, a stripped wire nut, or a hole in the ceiling you didn't expect.
Detail-oriented installation - Level, secure, and clean every time.
Wiring check before touching anything - I assess what's there before starting.
Honest about scope - If a job needs a licensed electrician, I'll tell you before starting, not after.
Fully insured - You're covered.
No up-sells - I won't recommend fixtures or additional work you don't need.
If you want lighting done carefully by someone who takes pride in the finished result, I'd be glad to help.
Areas I Serve
I provide lighting handyman services throughout Boulder County, including:
Nearby surrounding communities like Berthoud and Firestone
If you’re just outside these areas, feel free to ask.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you help me choose the right fixture?
I can offer a practical opinion - whether a fixture is appropriately sized for the space, whether the existing wiring supports it, and whether the installation will be straightforward. I'm not an interior designer, but I'll give you my honest take.
What if the existing wiring looks wrong when you open it up?
I'll stop, show you what I found, and explain the options. I won't patch over something that needs proper attention.
Do you do outdoor and security lighting?
Yes. Outdoor fixture replacements and security light installations are a common request and within my scope, as long as the wiring is already in place.
What's the difference between this page and your electrical page?
Lighting covers fixture installations and replacements. The electrical page covers outlets, switches, fans, detectors, and troubleshooting. There's some overlap - ceiling fans with light kits, for example - but if you're not sure, just describe your project and I'll point you to the right service.
How long does a typical lighting installation take?
A single fixture swap is usually 30–60 minutes. Multiple fixtures in one visit are handled efficiently - many clients do a whole-room update in one appointment.
